Terms of service
Effective July 1, 2026
These terms govern your use of Inboxes at inboxes.ai. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. Plain language is used on purpose; it binds all the same.
The service
Inboxes provides a unified inbox. You connect mailboxes you control over IMAP and we show them on a single board, with threading, tags, and search. Archiving a message on the board is synced back to the provider; replies are sent over SMTP from your own address and are not filed into the provider's Sent folder, and read state is not re-fetched after a message is imported. As messages arrive, an AI model reads them to assign a category (Important, Newsletter, Notification, Spam, or Other) and to flag likely spam. We read your mail to sort it, and for nothing else. Your mail continues to live at your own provider; we do not migrate it, and disconnecting a mailbox leaves it untouched.
Acceptable use: mailboxes you control
You may only connect mailboxes you own or are authorized to access. Connecting someone else's mailbox without their permission is a breach of these terms and, in most places, of the law. You agree not to use the service to intercept another person's mail, to send unsolicited bulk email, or in any way that violates the acceptable-use policies of your mailbox providers. We may suspend or terminate accounts used this way.
What the AI sorting does and does not promise
The AI categorization and spam flagging are probabilistic. A model that reads meaning will sometimes assign the wrong category or misjudge a message, so the categories are guidance, not guarantees, and you remain responsible for reading your own mail. Nothing flagged as spam is deleted: it is set aside where you can see and recover it. You can view and change the category on any message. Do not rely on the spam flag as a security control.
Plans and billing
Plans are billed in USD monthly or yearly, in advance. Plan changes apply immediately with prorated billing, in both directions: an upgrade unlocks the larger allowances at once, and a downgrade takes effect at once too, so the smaller mailbox limit and AI allowance apply from that moment rather than at the end of the period you have paid for. If you have already used more of the month's AI allowance than the smaller plan includes, sorting pauses until the allowance resets at the start of the next month; your mail keeps arriving and stays readable throughout. If you want the paid period to run out first, cancel instead of downgrading, and subscribe to the smaller plan when it ends. You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops renewal, and paid time runs to the end of the period. Plan allowances (connected mailboxes and the volume of messages sorted) reset each cycle and do not roll over. We may change prices with at least 30 days notice, effective from your next cycle.
Your data
Your mail is yours. You grant us only the license needed to run the service you asked for: connecting to your mailboxes, displaying and syncing your mail, and passing message content to our AI provider to categorize and flag it. We do not train AI models on your mail, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell or share it. Full handling details are in the privacy policy.
Availability and changes
We target high availability but do not promise uninterrupted service. Inboxes depends on your mailbox providers and on our AI provider, and any of them can be slow or unavailable in ways we do not control. Inboxes is a view onto your mail, not a backup of it: keep your mail at your provider. We may improve or change features, and we will not materially reduce what your plan includes mid-term without notice and a right to cancel with a prorated refund.
Liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including anything arising from a message you did not read because of how it was categorized. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Termination
You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate for breach of these terms, with notice where practical. Sections on data, liability, and disputes survive termination.
