For gvtc.com addresses
GVTC Email Settings and GVTC Email App for gvtc.com in One Inbox
GVTC makes no mail app. Here are the gvtc.com server settings, checked live from outside GVTC's network, and a way to read that address beside Gmail and work mail on any computer.
Tested live · Normal password · Nothing to install
In short
There is no GVTC email app. A gvtc.com address uses imap.gvtc.com on port 993 with SSL for incoming mail and smtp.gvtc.com on port 587 with authentication for outgoing mail, with a normal password and no app password. GVTC does not publish a settings page we could load, so we tested the servers directly. Webmail is linked from gvtc.com at webmail2.gvtc.com.
GVTC email server settings
Every gvtc.com setting in one table
GVTC does not publish these on a page we could open, so every host below comes from its DNS records and a live connection. The last column is what each port did when we connected from our servers in the United States in October 2026.

| Setting | Host | Port and encryption | Our live test |
|---|---|---|---|
| Incoming, IMAP | imap.gvtc.com | 993, SSL | Answered, plain password sign in offered |
| Incoming, IMAP alternative | imap.gvtc.com | 143, STARTTLS | Answered, STARTTLS offered |
| Incoming, POP | pop.gvtc.com | 995, SSL | Answered with a ready banner |
| Outgoing, SMTP | smtp.gvtc.com | 587, STARTTLS, authentication on | Answered, LOGIN and PLAIN sign in offered |
| Outgoing, port 465 | smtp.gvtc.com | 465 | No answer from our servers, use 587 |
| User name | Try the full address, then the part before @gvtc.com | Not published, whichever webmail accepts | |
| Webmail | webmail2.gvtc.com | Linked from gvtc.com, opens a GVTC sign in | |
The mail, imap, smtp and pop names on gvtc.com all point at the same hosted mail platform, so any of them reaches the same server. IMAP on 993 with SSL is the better choice today because every device then sees the same folders and the connection is encrypted from the first byte. The one thing we could not check without a live mailbox is the user name format, which is why the table says to try the full address first.
Why this address matters
The GVTC address that is still on everything
GVTC is the Guadalupe Valley Telephone Cooperative, the fiber provider around New Braunfels, Boerne, Bulverde and the Texas Hill Country. A gvtc.com address often goes back to the first internet account a household or small business opened, and it is still the one on the bank file, the insurance agent, the accountant and the customers of a shop or a contracting business.
It rarely lives alone. The same person usually has a Gmail account from a phone, an iCloud address from an iPad, and a work mailbox. GVTC webmail shows one mailbox per sign in, and the phone's Mail app does not travel to the office PC. So the gvtc.com address gets checked last, and that is where the overdue invoice sits.
A mail program that holds several accounts fixes that. If you want the settings entered once and the same list on every computer, an email client for multiple accounts that runs in a browser is the shortest route.
Measured in October 2026
GVTC mail answered from outside its own network
We looked up the gvtc.com mail records and opened connections to imap.gvtc.com, pop.gvtc.com and smtp.gvtc.com from our servers in the United States, the same way any outside mail program would.
Incoming
Port 993
- IMAP ready with SSL
- Port 143 with STARTTLS also open
- POP on 995 answered too
Outgoing
Port 587
- smtp.gvtc.com greeted and offered STARTTLS
- LOGIN and PLAIN sign in offered
- Port 465 did not answer
Sign in
Password
- Plain password sign in on IMAP
- No app password system found
- One host behind mail, imap, smtp and pop
GVTC runs its mail on a hosted platform, and that platform answered on standard ports. A test on one day is not a promise, but it shows a gvtc.com address works over ordinary IMAP and SMTP from anywhere, with a normal password. Other regional providers behave differently; the PTD email settings page and the Comporium email settings page cover two of them.
GVTC mailbox basics
Four facts that decide how a gvtc.com mailbox connects
Each one is something we measured, not something copied from an old guide.
1 host
mail, imap, smtp and pop on gvtc.com all resolve to the same hosted server, so there is little to get wrong.
993
The IMAP port with SSL. Port 143 with STARTTLS also answered.
587
The only outgoing port that answered. Port 465 stayed silent, and port 25 is blocked by many networks.
0
App passwords needed. The servers took a plain password sign in, so webmail and a mail program use the same one.
Every way to read a GVTC mailbox
Six routes to GVTC email on a computer or phone, compared
The questions that decide it are whether the route runs on the machines you use, and whether it holds your other addresses too.
Swipe to see all columns →
| Route to GVTC mail | Runs on | Holds other accounts too | Survives Gmail's January 2027 change | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Inboxes | Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, in a browser tab | Yes, one merged board | Yes, reads gvtc.com in place over IMAP | 49 dollars a month for five mailboxes, half that billed yearly |
| GVTC webmail | Any browser, any machine | No, one mailbox per sign in | Yes | Included with the mailbox |
| Gmail checking mail from other accounts | Anywhere Gmail runs | Yes, inside Gmail | No, Google drops this fetch for third party addresses | No license fee |
| Classic Outlook | Windows and Mac, with a Microsoft 365 or Office license | Yes, as separate folder trees | Yes | Part of a Microsoft 365 or Office purchase |
| iPhone and Mac Mail | Apple devices only | Yes, with an All Inboxes view | Yes | Included with the operating system |
| Thunderbird | Windows, macOS, Linux, Android | Yes, through Unified Folders | Yes | Open source, no license fee |
Google's January 2027 change removes Gmailify, the POP fetch of other accounts and Send as for third party addresses; the detail is on our check mail from other accounts page. For one address on one shared computer, GVTC webmail is the honest answer.
When the setup fails
Four reasons GVTC email stops working in a mail program
Outgoing authentication is off
Mail arrives and nothing sends, usually as soon as you are away from home. The GVTC outgoing server offered only authenticated sign in in our test. Turn on My outgoing server requires authentication and reuse the incoming user name and password.
The wrong user name format
GVTC does not publish which form the mail servers expect. If [email protected] is refused, try the part before the @ sign, and the other way round. A phone that capitalized the first letter on its own is enough to fail, so retype both by hand.
Outgoing still on port 25
Old setups from the Windows Mail years used port 25, which hotels, offices and phone networks block. Only 587 answered in our test. Do that before you touch the password.
Port 465 or no encryption
Port 465 did not answer from our servers, so a setup that insists on it will time out. Pick 587 with STARTTLS outgoing, and 993 with SSL incoming, and make sure the encryption box is not set to none.
If none of those fit, sign in at webmail2.gvtc.com with the same user name and password. If webmail refuses it too, the problem is the account or the password rather than the program, and GVTC customer support is the next call.
Where a browser client fits
What Inboxes does with a GVTC mailbox
The pitch is narrow on purpose. It is the one thing GVTC does not offer, which is the gvtc.com address and your newer ones in one list.
GVTC beside everything else
The gvtc.com address sits in the same stream as Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud and your own domain, with the source account on every row, so it is no longer the inbox you check last.
The settings entered once
Enter imap.gvtc.com one time, with a separate user name field. After that the office PC, the laptop and a borrowed computer show the same inbox.
Your normal password
Connecting takes the user name, the password and the host from the table. No app password to generate and nothing to install on any machine.
A category on every message
Each message arrives labeled Important, Newsletter, Notification, Spam or Other. On an address used for twenty years, sorting before you read is what keeps the bank notice from drowning.
Unaffected by the Gmail change
If you read gvtc.com inside Gmail today, that fetch stops in January 2027. Reading it in place over IMAP does not depend on Gmail at all.
Replies from the right address
An answer to a message on your GVTC address goes out through smtp.gvtc.com with your login, so customers and suppliers see the address they already know.
Three steps, and no download
Connecting a GVTC address to one board
Nothing here moves your mail. GVTC keeps the copy, and the board reads it over IMAP.
Step 01
Confirm the password
Sign in once at webmail2.gvtc.com. If the user name and password work there, they will work over IMAP, and you learn which user name format GVTC wants.
Step 02
Add the mailbox
Enter the address, the user name and the password, then imap.gvtc.com on 993 incoming and smtp.gvtc.com on 587 outgoing.
Step 03
Add the rest and read one board
Repeat for Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud or your own domain. Everything lands in one stream with the source on each row.
Where this is the wrong answer
What Inboxes does not do
It does not host your mail. The mailbox lives at GVTC and depends on your GVTC account. We read it; we do not host it. If the account closes, the address stops working everywhere, including here.
It will not connect a Microsoft mailbox. We sign in with a user name and password or app password. Microsoft has removed that kind of sign in from Microsoft 365 work mail and has said it intends to rely only on OAuth for Outlook.com too, so an outlook.com, hotmail.com or Microsoft 365 address will not connect here. gvtc.com, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, iCloud and own domain mailboxes do.
No calendar, no contacts, no offline mode. It runs in a browser tab and wants a connection. For reading mail with no signal, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and classic Outlook keep a local copy.
There is no permanent tier that costs nothing. Plans start at 49 dollars a month for five mailboxes, or half that billed yearly. If one gvtc.com address on one home computer is the whole job, the settings above and the mail app you already have will do it. The case for paying starts when you read several mailboxes on several machines, or want the volume itself cut down.
FAQ
Questions people ask about GVTC email
What are the GVTC email settings?
For incoming mail use imap.gvtc.com on port 993 with SSL, or port 143 with STARTTLS. For outgoing mail use smtp.gvtc.com on port 587 with STARTTLS and authentication turned on. In our October 2026 test from servers in the United States, all of those answered, and the outgoing server offered LOGIN and PLAIN sign in.
Is there a GVTC email app?
No. GVTC lists mobile apps for its internet, TV and security services, but we found no mail app of its own, and its webmail runs in a browser. To read a gvtc.com address on a phone or computer you add it to a general mail program or a browser based client such as Inboxes.
What is the GVTC IMAP server?
imap.gvtc.com. It answered on port 993 with SSL and on port 143 with STARTTLS, and it offered a plain password sign in. mail.gvtc.com and pop.gvtc.com resolve to the same address, so any of the three names reaches the same server.
What is the GVTC SMTP server?
smtp.gvtc.com on port 587 with STARTTLS. It required a login and offered LOGIN and PLAIN. Port 465 did not answer from our servers, so use 587 and leave authentication on for outgoing mail.
What are the GVTC POP settings?
Use pop.gvtc.com on port 995 with SSL. It answered with a ready banner in our test. POP downloads mail to one device and leaves other devices out of sync, so IMAP on 993 is the better choice if you read mail on more than one machine.
Where is GVTC webmail login?
GVTC links its webmail from its homepage at webmail2.gvtc.com. Opening it sends you to a GVTC sign in page, so you need your GVTC account details there. If your user name and password work in webmail, they are the ones to use over IMAP.
What user name do I use for GVTC email?
We could not confirm this without a live mailbox, because GVTC does not publish a settings page we could load. Try the full address first, such as [email protected]. If that fails, try the part before the @ sign. Whichever one webmail accepts is the one to use in a mail program.
Why is my GVTC email not working?
Check four things in order. Outgoing authentication must be on, outgoing should use port 587 and not 25, the password must match what webmail accepts, and the user name format must be right. If webmail also refuses the password, the problem is the account, and GVTC support is the next call.
Do I need an app password for GVTC email?
Nothing we found points to one. The servers offered a plain password sign in, so the same password you use for webmail is the one a mail program asks for. That makes a gvtc.com address simpler to connect than Gmail, Yahoo or AOL.
Can I read my GVTC email in Gmail?
Today you can, through the Gmail setting that checks mail from other accounts over POP. Google has announced it removes that POP fetch, Gmailify and Send as for third party addresses in January 2027. Reading the address in place over IMAP does not depend on Gmail.
Your GVTC address, and every other one
Connect gvtc.com with the password you already have, add Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud and your own domain, and let a model tag each message before you read it. Nothing to install on any computer.
