For comporium.net addresses

Comporium Email Settings and Comporium Email App for iPhone, Outlook and One Inbox

Comporium makes no mail app. Here are the comporium.net server settings, checked live from outside Comporium's network, and a way to read that address beside Gmail and work mail on any computer.

Tested live · Normal password · Nothing to install

In short

There is no Comporium email app. A comporium.net address uses mail.comporium.net on port 993 with SSL for incoming IMAP mail and smtp.comporium.net for outgoing mail with authentication on, on port 587 with STARTTLS or port 465 with SSL. The user name is the full address and the password is your normal webmail password, with no app password. Webmail is at webmail.comporium.net.

Every comporium.net setting in one table

Hosts and ports come from Comporium's own setup page. The last column is what each one did when we connected from our servers in the United States in October 2026.

Comporium's page lists port 465 for desktop programs and Android and port 587 for iPhone. Port 465 may well work from inside Comporium's own network; from outside it, 587 was the one that answered, so try 587 with STARTTLS first and fall back to 465 with SSL if a device insists. imap.comporium.net resolves to the same server as mail.comporium.net, so either name works.

A comporium.net address is often the one on the bank file, the county tax notices and the supplier accounts, read next to a Gmail and a work address.

Why this address matters

The old Comporium address that is still on everything

Comporium is the family owned phone, cable and internet company based in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and its comporium.net addresses go back to the dial up years. A lot of people around York and Lancaster counties, and in the parts of North Carolina Comporium serves, still use that address for the things that matter most: the bank, the insurance agent, the accountant, the customers of a small shop.

The trouble is that it rarely lives alone. The same person usually has a Gmail account from a phone, an iCloud address from an iPad, and a work mailbox. Comporium webmail shows one mailbox per sign in, and the phone's Mail app does not travel to the office PC. So the comporium.net address gets checked last, and that is where the overdue invoice sits.

A mail program that holds several accounts fixes that. If you want the settings entered once and the same list on every computer, an email client for multiple accounts that runs in a browser is the shortest route.

Measured in October 2026

Comporium mail answered from outside its own network

We looked up the comporium.net mail records and opened connections to each host from our servers in the United States, the same way any outside mail program would.

Incoming

Port 993

  • mail.comporium.net IMAP ready with SSL
  • Port 143 with STARTTLS also open
  • POP on 995 with SSL answered too

Outgoing

Port 587

  • smtp.comporium.net greeted and offered STARTTLS
  • LOGIN sign in offered
  • Port 465 did not answer our servers

Password

  • Plain password sign in on IMAP
  • No app password system
  • Full address as the user name

A test on one day is not a promise, and Comporium can move its mail. What it does show is that a comporium.net address works over standard IMAP and SMTP from anywhere, with a normal password. Other regional providers behave differently; the Consolidated email app page and the Windstream email app page cover two of them.

Comporium mailbox limits

Four numbers that decide how a comporium.net mailbox behaves

These are Comporium's published limits. The first one is the one that causes bounced mail.

5 GB

Mailbox size. Once it is full, new mail is refused, so a decade of newsletters becomes a delivery problem.

20 MB

Largest attachment. Scanned contracts and photo sets go through a share link instead.

200

Addresses per message. A customer list longer than that needs a mailing service, not a mailbox.

200 / 30 min

Sending rate. Comporium says this is a standard ISP guard against spam and malware.

Every way to read a Comporium mailbox

Six routes to Comporium email on a computer or phone, compared

The questions that decide it are whether the route runs on the machines you use, and whether it holds your other addresses too.

Route to Comporium mail Runs on Holds other accounts too Survives Gmail's January 2027 change Cost
Inboxes Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, in a browser tab Yes, one merged board Yes, reads comporium.net in place over IMAP 49 dollars a month for five mailboxes, half that billed yearly
Comporium webmail Any browser, any machine No, one mailbox per sign in Yes Included with Comporium service
Gmail checking mail from other accounts Anywhere Gmail runs Yes, inside Gmail No, Google drops this fetch for third party addresses No license fee
Classic Outlook Windows and Mac, with a Microsoft 365 or Office license Yes, as separate folder trees Yes Part of a Microsoft 365 or Office purchase
iPhone and Mac Mail Apple devices only Yes, with an All Inboxes view Yes Included with the operating system
Thunderbird Windows, macOS, Linux, Android Yes, through Unified Folders Yes Open source, no license fee

Google's January 2027 change removes Gmailify, the POP fetch of other accounts and Send as for third party addresses; the detail is on our check mail from other accounts page. For one address on one shared computer, Comporium webmail is the honest answer.

When the setup fails

Four reasons Comporium email stops working in a mail program

Outgoing authentication is off

Mail arrives and nothing sends. smtp.comporium.net requires a login. Turn on My outgoing server requires authentication and reuse the incoming user name and password.

An old password on one device

After a password change, the iPad or the office PC that still has the old one keeps failing and can trigger lockouts. Update the password on every device the same day.

The user name is missing the domain

Automatic setup often fills in only the part before the at sign. Comporium expects the whole address, for example [email protected], with the password you use in webmail.

A port that does not answer

Port 25 is blocked on many networks, and 465 did not answer us from outside Comporium. If sending times out, switch outgoing to 587 with STARTTLS before you touch the password.

If none of those fit, sign in at webmail.comporium.net with the same address and password. If webmail refuses it too, the problem is the account or the password rather than the program, and Comporium support is the next call.

Where a browser client fits

What Inboxes does with a Comporium mailbox

The pitch is narrow on purpose. It is the one thing Comporium does not offer, which is the comporium.net address and your newer ones in one list.

Comporium beside everything else

The comporium.net address sits in the same stream as Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud and your own domain, with the source account on every row, so it is no longer the inbox you check last.

The settings entered once

Enter mail.comporium.net and smtp.comporium.net one time. After that the office PC, the laptop and a borrowed computer show the same inbox without setting anything up again.

Your normal password

Connecting takes the address, the password and the hosts from the table. No app password to generate and nothing to install on any machine.

A category on every message

Each message arrives labeled Important, Newsletter, Notification, Spam or Other. On an address used for twenty years, sorting before you read is what keeps the bank notice from drowning.

Unaffected by the Gmail change

If you read comporium.net inside Gmail today, that fetch stops in January 2027. Reading it in place over IMAP does not depend on Gmail at all.

Replies from the right address

An answer to a message on your Comporium address goes out through smtp.comporium.net, so customers and suppliers see the address they already know.

Three steps, and no download

Connecting a Comporium address to one board

Nothing here moves your mail. Comporium keeps the copy, and the board reads it over IMAP.

Step 01

Confirm the password

Sign in once at webmail.comporium.net. If the password works there, it will work over IMAP.

Step 02

Add the mailbox

Enter the full address and password, then mail.comporium.net on 993 and smtp.comporium.net on 587 from the table above.

Step 03

Add the rest and read one board

Repeat for Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud or your own domain. Everything lands in one stream with the source on each row.

Where this is the wrong answer

What Inboxes does not do

It does not host your mail. The mailbox lives at Comporium and depends on your Comporium account. We read it; we do not host it. If the account closes, the address stops working everywhere, including here.

It will not connect a Microsoft mailbox. We sign in with a user name and password or app password. Microsoft has removed that kind of sign in from Microsoft 365 work mail and has said it intends to rely only on OAuth for Outlook.com too, so an outlook.com, hotmail.com or Microsoft 365 address will not connect here. comporium.net, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, iCloud and own domain mailboxes do.

No calendar, no contacts, no offline mode. It runs in a browser tab and wants a connection. For reading mail with no signal, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and classic Outlook keep a local copy.

There is no permanent tier that costs nothing. Plans start at 49 dollars a month for five mailboxes, or half that billed yearly. If one comporium.net address on one home computer is the whole job, the settings above and the mail app you already have will do it. The case for paying starts when you read several mailboxes on several machines, or want the volume itself cut down.

FAQ

Questions people ask about Comporium email

What are the Comporium email settings?

Incoming mail is mail.comporium.net on port 993 with SSL for IMAP, or port 995 with SSL for POP. Outgoing mail is smtp.comporium.net with authentication on, using port 587 or port 465. The user name is your full comporium.net address and the password is the one you use in Comporium webmail.

Is there a Comporium email app?

No. Comporium does not publish its own mail app for iPhone, Android, Windows or Mac. Its email runs in webmail at webmail.comporium.net, or in a general mail program such as iPhone Mail, Outlook or Thunderbird that you point at the Comporium servers with the settings on this page.

How do I set up Comporium email on iPhone?

Open Settings, then Apps, then Mail, then Mail Accounts, then Add Account, then Other, then Add Mail Account. Pick IMAP, enter mail.comporium.net as the incoming host and smtp.comporium.net as the outgoing host, your full address as the user name both times, and leave SSL on. Comporium lists port 587 for outgoing mail on iPhone.

How to set up Comporium email in Outlook?

In classic Outlook choose File, then Add Account, then Advanced options, then Let me set up my account manually, and pick IMAP. Use mail.comporium.net on port 993 with SSL incoming and smtp.comporium.net on port 587 with STARTTLS outgoing, and turn on outgoing authentication with the same address and password.

What is the Comporium IMAP server?

The Comporium IMAP server is mail.comporium.net on port 993 with SSL. The name imap.comporium.net points at the same machine, and the server also answers on port 143 with STARTTLS. Both answered from our servers in the United States in October 2026 and offered a plain password sign in.

What is the Comporium SMTP server?

The Comporium SMTP server is smtp.comporium.net, and it always requires a login. Comporium lists port 465 with SSL for desktop programs and Android and port 587 for iPhone. In our October 2026 test, port 587 answered and offered STARTTLS and LOGIN sign in, so 587 with STARTTLS is the safest first choice.

What is the Comporium webmail address?

Comporium webmail is at webmail.comporium.net, which opens a Zimbra web client sign in. It shows one mailbox per sign in, so it suits checking a single address on a shared computer and gets slow for a household or office that reads several addresses each day.

Do I need an app password for Comporium email?

No. Comporium asks for the full email address and the normal mailbox password in every mail program and does not issue app passwords. That makes a comporium.net address simpler to connect than Gmail, Yahoo or AOL, which refuse your real password in third party programs.

Why is my Comporium email not working?

Check three things in order. Outgoing authentication must be on, the user name must be the whole address rather than the part before the at sign, and the password must still match webmail. If you changed the password recently, update it on every phone and computer, because one old device can keep failing and look like a server problem.

How big can a Comporium mailbox be?

Comporium sets a 5 GB mailbox limit and a 20 MB limit per attachment, and a message can go to at most 200 addresses. It also caps sending at 200 messages per 30 minutes. A mailbox close to 5 GB starts refusing new mail, so clearing old newsletters matters more on a comporium.net address than on Gmail.

Can I read my Comporium email in Gmail?

Today you can, through the Gmail setting that checks mail from other accounts over POP. Google has announced it removes that POP fetch, Gmailify and Send as for third party addresses in January 2027, so a comporium.net address pulled into Gmail that way stops updating. Reading the mailbox in place over IMAP is not affected.

Should I use POP or IMAP for Comporium email?

Use IMAP unless you read mail on exactly one computer. POP on port 995 downloads messages to one device, so the phone and the office PC drift apart. IMAP on port 993 leaves the mail on the Comporium server, so every device and webmail show the same folders and the same read state.

Your Comporium address, and every other one

Connect comporium.net with the password you already have, add Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud and your own domain, and let a model tag each message before you read it. Nothing to install on any computer.
